I know that most people hate Chinese opera, even young Chinese distance themselves from this tradition, but I always like this contrast, these facial expressions, colors, richness of costumes, masks and make-up. If you have the opportunity, it's worth seeing, but maybe it's better to take earplugs or some MP3 with you, although I don't mind the specific singing and unusual accompaniment too much.
