Chinese brass figurines

Such brass figurines were the standard souvenir from the Middle Kingdom for years. Every shopping center aimed at tourists had at least one such stand or stall, e.g. in Shenzhen at the old border of LuoHu, ChengHuang Miao in Shanghai or ShanXiaJiu in Guangzhou. These types of gifts can also be purchased near most temples. I also often bought brass dragons, phoenixes, lions and buddhas. Of course, such a gift added weight to the main luggage, but it had its own charm. I guess what also matters is that such a figurine is practically indestructible, eternal, and the fact that it is slightly dusty adds to its charm - almost like an antique.
