Family visiting the temple

Family visiting the temple - photos from China

Buddhism and Taoism are religions that refer to improving oneself and one's behavior. They do not require believers to visit temples every Saturday or Sunday. That is why the Chinese appear in temples sporadically, most often during trips, meetings with family and important holidays, such as Chinese New Year. Of course, there are exceptions, because sometimes there is a temple in the estate and the residents go there more often. The Chinese authorities in the 20th century did not allow any religion to dominate the country, which is why the number of temples in relation to the population is quite small. They can be treated as tourist attractions rather than churches representing each parish. Here is the Wong Tai Sin Temple in Hong Kong.
