Mini bus in Hong Kong, public transport
© Bartłomiej Magierowski
Such minibuses have been withdrawn in some Chinese cities. Many years ago in Shenzhen it was the main means of communication. The problem was that many drivers drove like they were in a race. They avoided intersections, ran red lights, and honked at pedestrians. The most interesting thing was that you could get off and on at any time. In Hong Kong, the traffic is a bit more subdued, more European, calmer, and such minibuses still operate there. Hong Kong is a huge city, we have traditional double-decker buses, ferries, a well-functioning metro and the KCR railway. However, such minibuses work well in more remote districts.
