Candle for Buddha!

Candle for Buddha! - photos from China

© Bartłomiej Magierowski

These candles are lit in front of Buddha temples (of which there are not many in China). Each candle has a meaning, in this case someone is praying for money. Moreover, in their culture, people most often pray for money and success, less often for family, health or love. They put these candles on sticks in special pots and bow their heads several times and join their hands, just like we do during prayer. Some even kneel in the same way... so many similarities, but different god, different faith and different prayers. Most Chinese are atheists, at least those are the most common ones I meet, then Buddhists, and a few Catholics (in relation to the entire population).
