Sun Yat Sen's revolution

© Bartłomiej Magierowski
Sun Yat Sen was born in Zhongshan (a pretty nice town near Guangzhou) but grew up in Honolulu. He graduated from medical school in Hong Kong and practiced there, but apparently he was more interested in politics. At the beginning of the 20th century, he led a revolution during which he was guided by three slogans: nationalism, democracy and means of subsistence. He had a rather broad worldview, modeled himself on European countries, was interested in Western society, and maybe he wanted China to take over some of the advantages of Europe and America. In 1911 he became president of China, but quickly resigned from this position. Several dozen years later, there was no talk of democracy anymore and there was no Sun Yat Sen.
