Life and Travel in China

In China, bread plays an increasingly important role. Previously, the Chinese ate such dumplings (sometimes with stuffing inside - mushrooms, vegetables, meat). They ate these white pampuch rolls, usually warm. Now there are special stands selling bread in supermarkets, there are even confectioneries. Unfortunately, there are no typical bakeries like in Poland. Their bread is, after all, different, it is far from delicious Polish bread or fresh rolls. Of course, the Chinese are still masters of copying. The supermarket already has Russian, Italian, German bread (I bought it yesterday) and even French long rolls. Only one bakery chain with a French name can make these rolls reasonably well. Other breads are average but still improving. Previously, they only offered sweet rolls (for example, a sweet roll with sausage) or hay-flavored bread, now there is a wider selection, fortunately.

I read in a Polish monthly that the USA, Japan and... China are getting ready to conquer the Moon. China plans to build space bases on the Moon in 2020, but as I know them, they will probably build them in 2018. Apparently they want to emphasize their economic power and progress. This can basically be seen in every city and town in China, everything is changing and developing at a faster or slower pace. Well, the authorities in Beijing also want to show this progress on the Moon. It looks like all the galactic wars we know from science fiction movies will become a fact. But I don't think anyone included Chinese bases and spaceships in these videos... wrong!

One Chinese woman tells me today that she is a Christian. I check... I ask her what three persons God appears in. Correct answer! I ask about the ten commandments, he doesn't really know what it is about. I give some suggestions, still nothing. I ask who was the previous pope? Answer: "I'm not interested in the Pope at all!" After a while, she adds: "Even if we know all the popes and follow the 10 commandments (which she doesn't know), we won't be saved if we don't follow the rules set by Jesus (these are the 10 commandments?!) - we won't be saved when the end of the world comes" - something like that. I told her that she had no idea what the Christian faith was and that she talked like she was on an American talk show. Slogans like "Jesus will save me!" However, the Chinese have problems with faith and most of them are atheists.

I was in a small town near ZhongShan for two days and I must admit that it is also developing and changing. Small shops have mostly turned into company stores selling Chinese brands of clothing, shoes and bags. Industry is also becoming better developed, poverty is practically invisible. I'm not saying that everyone is a millionaire, but you can see that people have jobs and can afford at least (if not a car) a good scooter, good clothes, and they can also eat in a restaurant. China is growing like a weed, maybe a little unevenly, but no cake is perfect!

Look how strange it is in this world. In Poland, we have baby mothers and fewer and fewer children are born. And in China? You can only have one son or two daughters - otherwise you pay incredible fines, for example with the third or fourth child. Another solution in China is forced abortions. I am writing about this because this morning I met a friend who already has two daughters, he says that if he had a third daughter, he would not have enough salary to pay these fines, there was no way he could have another child. What if a woman is pregnant? There is no option for a single mother - no consent for childbirth and forced abortion, unless she pays or has some connections. Because in China, you must have written consent before getting pregnant. This world is so twisted!
